Centaurea jacea
ζ*C. jacea L. ζ* is very similar to C. nigra but differs in the lacerate appendages of the involucral bracts. It often has deeply pinnatifid basal and lower cauline lvs. In N.Z. it has been collected from the wild twice, from Kihikihi, near Te Awamutu (CHR 121818, Clarke, 27.9.1959) and from Auckland. (Europe, Siberia, 1988).
