Jasione montana
ζ*Jasione montana L. ζ*, sheep's bit, was recorded by Cheeseman based on a specimen from Mohaka R., N. Hawke's Bay collected wild by Guthrie-Smith. A small biennial with small sessile or subsessile blue fls aggregated in dense terminal heads; corolla lobes linear and spreading; anthers connate near base; styles long-exserted. Jasione spp. are sometimes cultivated in N.Z. rock gardens and on retaining walls. (Europe, 1914).
