Type locality: Dusky Bay. Type: K, Lyall.
Lvs tending to be suborbicular with cordate base; petioles channelled but not winged, up to 6 mm. diam. when dry, hairs us. few except as fringe on sheathing base. Peduncles c. 3-6 mm. diam. when dry, glab. Bracts us. 5-7-9 per whorl, the largest rarely > 3 × 1*5 cm., mostly much smaller. Pedicels almost or quite glab. Calyx-lobes mostly c. 7 mm. long, few notched, posterior clefts often < 1/2 calyx-length.
DIST.: S. Fiordland. Herbfield and scrub, occ. at low level beside streams.
