Mimulus luteus
ζ*M. luteus L. ζ* has been collected 3 times, from a pond in the Awakino Valley (S. Auckland), a roadside gutter in Christchurch, and Duvauchelles Golf Club (Banks Peninsula). This is easily the commonest sp. in cultivation. It is similar to M. guttatus, but is usually a shorter plant with more decumbent stems. However, it is best distinguished by the glabrous infl., and indistinctly 2-lipped corolla with an open throat. The fls are basically yellow but the usual form grown in N.Z., and that which has been found wild, is further distinguished from M. guttatus by the red marks and blotches on the corolla. (N. America, 1968).
