Type locality: Hector Mountains. Type: W, 1166, D.P., 5-6000 ft.
Stems us. simple, stiff, striate, up to c. 6 cm. long; lamina up to c. 2 cm. long, with broad flat rhachis, on flat petiole ± 10 mm. long; pinnae up to c. 10 pairs, very close-set, overlapping, ± 3 mm. long, deeply cut; margins, tips of teeth, and us. upper surface densely clad in long white to pale buff hairs. Peduncles stout, up to 5 cm. tall; umbels compound, compacted into a head ± 10 mm. diam.; involucral bracts lanceolate. Fr. ± 2-3 mm. long; mericarps with narrow prominent ridges.
DIST.: S. Montane grassland and rocky places to subalpine herbfield and fellfield, from lat. 43º 30' to 45º 30', east of divide.
