Eryngium amethystinum
ζ*E. amethystinum L. ζ* is known from one collection only, Feilding. Allan (1940) recorded E. spinalba Vill. as a garden escape near Feilding. The specimen probably concerned (CHR 1286, Feilding, Mar. 1928, "Eryngium spinalba") is not E. spinalba, but most probably E. amethystinum. An erect perennial up to 45 cm high, similar to E. campestre but differing in having 1-4 pairs of marginal spines on the bracts, and bluish tinged capitula. (N.E. Mediterranean, 1940).
