Lecanora pallida (Schreb.) Rabenh.
Lichen pallidus Schreber, Spic. fl. lips.: 133 (1771).
Thallus white or grey-white, continuous, granular-verrucose in parts, ± erose in parts, or effuse, 1-2(-5) cm diam. Apothecia solitary or 1-4 confluent, sessile, constricted at base, disc subconvex to plane to ± undulate, red-brown covered with a dense grey-white or buff pruina, margins persistent, thick (0.1 mm) entire or crenulate-striate, often ± inflexed, concolorous with thallus. Asci clavate. Paraphyses simple, dense, 1.7 µm diam., not capitate. Ascospores uniseriate or biseriate, broad-ellipsoid, 12-15.3 × 6-8.3 µm. Chemistry: K+ yellow-red. Atranorin and norstictic acid.
