Lecanora leprosa Fée

L. leprosa Fée, Essai cryptog. Écorc. exot. Officin.: 118 (1825).

Thallus grey-white ± decorticate, scurfy, pale whitish-cream, in irregular patches 1-3 cm diam. Apothecia 0.2-0.8 mm diam., rounded, usually crowded, disc pale to dark red-brown or brown to buff, matt, plane to subconvex, epruinose rarely finely white-pruinose, margins thin, crenulate, often disappearing. Paraphyses capitate, 5 µm thick at apices, brownish, 1.5-2 µm thick below at mid hymenium. Ascospores ellipsoid, narrow, 8.3-12(-14) × 3.4-5.1(-7) µm. Chemistry: Atranorin and chloratranorin.

N: S: Throughout, on decidous bark and lignum, mainly lowland.
