Nicotiana ×sanderae

ζ*N. × sanderae Will. Watson

ζ*N. × sanderae Will. Watson ζ* (N. alata × N. forgetiana Hemsley), flowering tobacco, has been collected as a casual escape on waste land and a riverbed in Christchurch and Rangiora. An annual or short-lived perennial herb similar to N. alata but the fls nearly always purple, crimson or rose, very rarely whitish, and the corolla tube shorter and usually wider. It is much more common in cultivation than either of the parents. (Cultivated hybrid, 1988).
