Racosperma podalyriifolium

ζ*R. podalyriifolium (G. Don) Pedley ζ*,Queensland silver wattle, has been collected only once, possibly naturalised, from a quarry, Mt Wellington, Auckland City,1953. A shrub to small tree. Phyllodes alternate, clothed in fine hairs, 15-35-(40) × (8)-10-20-(25) mm, with 1 prominent vein; stipules inconspicuous. Fls 5-merous, golden. Several related spp. are more common in cultivation - in particular the S.E. Australian R. pravissimum (Benth.) Pedley, knife-leaved wattle, with smaller glabrous phyllodes (6-18 × 4-14 mm) is widely grown. Queensland silver wattle has been previously recorded in N.Z. as Acacia podalyriifolia. (Queensland, 1981).
