Anastrophyllum schismoides var. crassulum J.J.Engel
Holotype: Tasmania, Gordon River, vicinity of Sir John Falls, just upriver from Butler Is., ca. 50 m, Engel 14742 – c. per. (F); isotype: (HO).
Leaf cell trigones straight- or even concave-sided to somewhat bulging, never nodulose, normally not confluent, the lumen ± rounded at the corners and surrounded mostly by the thin walls; marginal cells of leaf with exposed wall at most moderately thickened, the wall thickness considerably less than the lumen diameter.
The var. crassulum is rare and sporadic in New Zealand, but rather common in Tasmania. In New Zealand it occurs in Otago (455–610 m), Canterbury (875–950 m), Nelson (1035 m) and Auckland (Mt. Moehau, 800–860 m) provinces.
