Hypotrachyna thysanota

Description : Flora (1985: 201).
Chemistry : Cortex K+ yellow, UV−; medulla K−, C+ red, KC+ red, Pd+ red; containing atranorin, chloroatranorin, echinocarpic, gyrophoric, and microphyllinic acids.
S: Nelson (Black Hill, Lake Rotoiti). On bark of Kunzea ericoides. Still very poorly collected and understood in New Zealand. Known also from SE United States and Mexico (Hale 1975).

Hypotrachyna thysanota is characterised by: the corticolous habit; the pruinose lobe apices; subterminal, often protruding, laminal soralia; and echinocarpic, gyrophoric, and microphyllinic acids in the medulla.
