Hypotrachyna costaricensis

Chemistry : Cortex K+ yellow, UV−; medulla K−, C−, KC−, Pd−; containing atranorin, chloroatranorin, protolichesterinic acid and unidentified fatty acids.
N: Northland (Rangitoto I.) Auckland. On Metrosideros excelsa (pohutukawa) bark. Known also from Central America, the Caribbean, South America, SE Asia, Papua New Guinea and Queensland (Louwhoff & Elix 2002a: 47; Nash et al. 2002b: 242; McCarthy 2003c, 2006).

Hypotrachyna costaricensis is characterised by: the corticolous habit; the maculate, isidiate upper surface; and fatty acids in the medulla.
