Scirpus habrus Edgar

S. habrus Edgar N.Z. J. Bot. 4, 1966, 199.

Slender tufts. Stems flaccid, (5) -10-30 cm high. Inflorescence of 1-3 green or reddish-black spikelets. Stamens usually 2 in lower glumes, usually 1 in upper glumes. Style-branches 3. Nut > 1 mm long, trigonous, cream.

N. Southwards from Mt Egmont, Volcanic Plateau and East Cape. S. Throughout; rare in Marlborough and Otago. St., Ch., A., C. Damp ground, bogs and stream banks, montane to subalpine. (Australia)
