Pertusaria bartlettii
Holotype: New Zealand. Northland, Herekino Gorge, 35º10's, 173º12'E, 120 m, on bark of Rhopalostylis sapida on exposed hillside, 27.x.1981, J.K. Bartlett s.n. – AK 192225.
Description : Thallus pale yellowish white, areolate, surface dull and smooth, without isidia or soredia. Apothecia verruciform, inconspicuous, numerous, pale-yellow, sometimes confluent, very flattened-hemispherical or subimmersed, 1–2 mm diam.; ostioles conspicuous, black, rounded or irregular in outline, 0.2–0.6 mm diam., 1–3 per verruca. Ascospores 8 per ascus, biseriate, ellipsoidal to subfusiform, smooth, 60–75 × 25–32 μm.
Chemistry : K−, KC+ orange, C+ orange, Pd−; containing artho-thelin (major), thiophanic acid (major), 2,4-dichlorolichexanthone (major), 2,5-dichloronorlichexanthone (minor), 4,5-dichloro-norlichexanthone (tr.), 2-chloronorlichexanthone (tr.), 4-chloro-lichexanthone (tr.), and thiophaninic acid (tr.) (Archer & Elix 1994a: 204).

Pertusaria bartlettii is characterised by: the corticolous habit; pale-yellow, flattened or immersed verrucae with conspicuous, black ostioles, and the presence of polychlorinated norlichexanthones.
