Pertusaria theochroa

P. theochroa Kremp., Verhandl. zool.-bot. Ges. Wien 26: 452 (1876).

Holotype: New Zealand. Sine loco [probably Wellington], Charles Knight – M 123–80/12.

Description : Flora (1985: 380).

Chemistry : K−, C+ orange, KC+ orange Pd−; containing thiophaninic acid.

N: Wellington. Known only from the type collection. On lignum (old fence posts).

Endemic

Pertusaria theochroa is characterised by: the lignicolous habit; a pale-yellowish to grey-white thallus; yellowish verruciform apothecia; minute, blackened ostioles, 1–3 per verruca; 8-spored asci; biseriate, broadly ellipsoidal ascospores (contents guttulate), 85–115 × 35–40 μm; and thiophaninic acid.
