Pertusaria erumpescens is characterised by: the saxicolous habit; the brownish-grey rather indeterminate thallus; fawn or brownish, shining fertile verrucae with minute, black ostioles; 8-spored asci; uniseriate to biseriate ascospores, 34–42.5 × 12–17 μm; and the presence of norstictic acid in the medulla.
