Passiflora antioquiensis
ζ*P. antioquiensis Karsten ζ*, vanilla banana passionfruit, has been collected wild on a roadside bank east of Kawakawa, N. Auckland. It has deeply 3-lobed lvs as in the other banana passionfruits but the lobes are usually lanceolate and never more than moderately hairy below. Stipules very small and subulate. Fls pendulous on long, slender pedicels; hypanthium 2-3 cm long; sepals and petals bright crimson or rosy crimson inside, green-flushed outside where exposed; fr. ± ellipsoid, yellow, longitudinally ribbed. This sp. is the most beautiful of the banana passionfruits and is not quite as hardy as the other spp. described here. It is sometimes known as P. vanvolxemii in cultivation in N.Z. (Colombia, 1988).
