Telopea oreades

ζ*Telopea oreades F. Muell. ζ*, Victorian waratah, has been collected wild on the edge of a track in the Paurini Scenic Reserve, Tongariro R., on the Volcanic Plateau. The sp. is commonly cultivated. A large shrub; lvs to c. 20 cm long, narrow-oblong to narrow-obovate, coriaceous, ± glaucous; infl. a large, terminal, dense head 8-10 cm across, with the numerous crimson fls c. 2 cm long and surrounded by pink or rose bracts 2-6 cm long. (Victoria and N.S.W., 1985).
