Toronia

ζToronia ζ is a monotypic genus erected by Johnson, L. A. S. and Briggs, B. G., Bot. Jour. Linn. Soc. 70: 174-175 (1975), for the endemic T. toru (Cunn.) L. Johnson et B. Briggs treated by Allan (1961) as Persoonia toru Cunn.  Toronia is distinguished from Persoonia Smith by a combination of bracteate racemes; anther connective lacking appendages; ovary sessile, with the very short, thick style < anthers; seed 1. Australian Persoonia spp. are commonly cultivated in N.Z.
