Collema japonicum

C. japonicum (Müll.Arg.) Hue, Nouv. Archs Mus. Hist. nat. Paris sér. 3, 10: 220 (1898).

Synechoblastus japonicus Müll.Arg., Flora 63: 17 (1880).

Description : Flora (1985: 138).

S: Known from one collection from Glen Lyon Station, Canterbury (Mason 10, OTA). It is mainly a corticolous species but will also colonise rock. Known also from Australia (McCarthy 2003c, 2006).

Collema japonicum is characterised by: the corticolous habit; a smooth surface without isidia; epruinose apothecial discs; and the large, fusiform, 6-celled ascospores, (20–)30–55(–75) × 4–8.5 μm.
