N: Rare, known only from two collections, Colenso's type, and from Tiritea near Palmerston North. Known also from Tasmania (Filson 1992c: 165; McCarthy 2003c, 2006).

Collema fasciculare var. colensoi is characterised by: the finely whitish-downy upper surface, a unique and previously overlooked character in Collema.
