Pittosporum rigidum var. majus Allan
Type locality: Mount Holdsworth, Silver beech forest. Type: W, W. R. B. Oliver, 18/1/1931.
Branchlets slender; lvs c. 15-25 × 4-10 mm., elliptic to obovate-cuneate, less coriac.; sepals narrow-ovate, acuminate,. 4-5 mm. long; petals c. 1 cm. long.
DIST.: N. Upper montane forest, Tararua Range.
Plants collected in Preservation Inlet and Dusky Sound appear to belong here: lvs 15-20 × 4-10 mm., narrow-elliptic to obovate-cuneate, entire to irregularly toothed; capsules c. 6 mm. long and wide, style base c. 3 mm. long. The juvenile lvs are irregularly and deeply lobed, the basal lobes larger than the others.
