Asplenium falcatum var. caudatum (G.Forst.) Allan

Var. caudatum (Forst. f.) Allan comb. nov. 

A. caudatum Forst. f. Prodr. 1786, 80.

Pinnae narrower, up to 15 cm. × 15 mm., acuminate; sori up to 1 cm. long, not reaching near to margin.

DIST.: K. Forest. Also widespread in tropics. Forster gives no locality.

A. forsterianum Col. in Tasm. J. nat. Sci. 2, 1846, 171 was based on specimens collected "on trunks of living trees in the dense forest between Tauranga and Rotorua, near the Bay of Plenty, E. Coast, Jan. 1842." The type in W consists of two portions of a lamina. Rhachis densely paleate; pinnae up to 12.5 cm. × 17 mm., coarsely lobed and toothed, long-attenuate.
