Ourisia macrophylla var. meadii L.B.Moore

Var. meadii L. B. Moore var. nov. 

Type locality: Mangakino River gorge, c. 200 m. altitude, river bank at about flood level. Type: BD 87816, A. D. Mead and I. A. E. Atkinson, 1956.

Length of lf-lamina us. > 2 × width, base cuneate, upper surface us. slightly hairy near petiole; petiole us. hairy all over as is peduncle. Calyx-lobes 6-7 mm. long.

DIST.: N. Upper tributaries of Waikato and Wanganui Rivers.

This var. was recognized as distinct by A. D. Mead, and plants supplied by him to Otari Open Air Plant Museum and to other gardens have retained their distinctive characters over several years. The only Ourisia seen from Pirongia Mountain, Waikato (B. E. G. Molesworth, March 1940, in A) may also belong to this var.
