Porina rhodinula Zahlbr.

Lectotype: New Zealand. Marlborough, Chalk Range, on limestone. J.S. Thomson (T 1530), ZA 645, CHR 374647!

Thallus dark olive-brownish to red-brown, minutely maculate (×25 lens), in irregular patches, 0.5-5 cm diam., ± continuous, matt or reticulate-cracked and areolate, areolate 0.05-0.2 mm diam., lifting from substrate in parts, prothallus absent. Perithecia sparse, semi-immersed, plane with surface of substrate, or ± subconvex, black, shining, 0.05-0.2 mm diam., central pore minute. Paraphyses filiform, dense, straight. Asci clavate, thin-walled, 60-70 × 8.3 µm. Ascospores ovoid to broad-fusiform, one end pointed, the other end rounded, 3-septate 16-26 × (3-)5-7 µm.

S: Known only from the type collection.
