Cladonia grayi G.Merr. ex Sandst.

C. grayi G.K. Merr. ex Sandst., Clad. Exs.: 1847 (1929).

As for C. chlorophaea. Podetia 10-15 mm tall, cups wide. Chemistry: Cortex K-, KC-, Pd+ red or -. Grayanic and ± fumarprotocetraric acids.

N: South Auckland to Wellington (Pohangina Valley). S: Nelson, Westland, Southland (Awarua Plain). St: On rotting wood, sandy peat, under tussocks in grassland or in Leptospermum heath.
