Var. pumila

Var. pumila M. B. Ashwin var. nov. 

Type locality: Discovery Peaks, Spenser Mts. Type: K, Travers.

Cushions small and lax, easily flattened by pressing, 1-2 cm. high; branches ∞, close, short, laxly lfy, 2-4 mm. diam. including lvs. Lvs loosely imbricate, 2-3 × 1-1·5 mm., ± spathulate, obtuse to subacute, sparsely ciliate at least in upper part. Calyx-lobes sparsely marginally ciliate, outer surface almost glab.

DIST.: S. Mountains of Nelson and northern Westland.
