Brachyscome linearis

Type: (lectotype of Davis) A, 9361, D. Petrie, Jan. 1866.

Plant annual or winter-annual, glab. or very nearly so, up to c. 4 cm. tall, with radical rosettes of lvs from slender stock. Lvs narrow-linear or very narrowly linear-spathulate, ± 1·5-2 cm. × 1-1·5 mm., narrowed to slightly sheathing base, entire or with 1-(3) minute subapical teeth. Scapes filiform to capillary, c. 2-3-(4) cm. long, nude. Capitula 2-3 mm. diam., receptacle almost flat; phyll. oblong, obtuse to subacute, ciliolate on upper margins. Florets rather few; of ray white, up to c. 2 mm. long; of disk yellowish. Achene c. 1 × 0·5 mm., ± compressed, glab., obovate-oblong, pale brown, sts slightly turgid at maturity; pappus of minute white bristles.

DIST.: S. Moist grassy places and herbfield near Lake Te Anau.
