Olearia virgata var. implicita G.Simpson

Var. implicita Simpson in T.R.S.N.Z. 75, 1945, 199.

Type locality: banks of Maruia River. Type: BD 64331A, G. Simpson.

Shrub up to 2 m. tall, with slender loosely interlacing branchlets; lvs 6-8 × 2-3 mm., obovate; upper surface pilose when young, lower surface with thin silvery tomentum; capitula solitary or in fascicles of 2-3, pedicels < 1 mm. long; phyll. glab. or nearly so; florets 6; achenes glab. or nearly so.

DIST.: S. Common in valleys of West Nelson and Westland.

Simpson's diagnosis is: "Differt a typo ramulis gracilibus laxe divaricatis, juventute glabris, foliis parvioribus, tenuioribus, subtus argenteis, phyllaribus glabris."
