Lecidea fuscocincta

L. fuscocincta Stirt., Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 14: 470 (1875).

Lectotype: New Zealand. Wellington, 1874, J. Buchanan No. 106 (a) out of No. 35/74 – BM [fide Galloway (1985a: 232)].

Description : Flora (1985: 232).

Chemistry : Not tested.

N: Known only from the type locality. On smooth-barked trees and shrubs (Hoheria, Melicytus etc.) associating with species of Bacidia.

Endemic.

Lecidea fuscocincta is characterised by: the corticolous habit; the pale glaucous-grey, areolate, minutely wrinkled–verrucose thallus; convex, dark-brown apothecia; and ellipsoidal ascospores, 1–17 × 6.5–8.5 μm. As indicated above, this species is not correctly accommodated in Lecidea s. str.
