Eranthis hyemalis

ζ*Eranthis hyemalis (L.) Salisb. ζ*, winter aconite, has been collected once from waste land at Weatherston's, C. Otago (CHR 174176, Healy 66/508, 18.10.1966). A rhizomatous perennial; lvs deeply palmatifid, the basal petiolate, the cauline sessile in a whorl of 3 close to the solitary terminal fl.; perianth segments 6, yellow; follicles (5)-6-(8), shortly stalked. (S. Europe, S.W. Asia, 1981).
