Eragrostideae

ERAGROSTIDEAE

Ligule a line of hairs or sometimes membranous. Inflorescence a panicle or composed of tough unilateral racemes digitate or scattered along an axis. Spikelets 1-several-many-flowered, lower florets ⚥ and uppermost ± reduced, usually laterally compressed; disarticulation between florets. Glumes usually persistent, membranous, 0-1-nerved, < lowest lemma. Lemma membranous to coriaceous, 1-3-nerved, entire or 2-3-lobed with or without 1-(3) straight or flexuous terminal awns. Caryopsis sometimes with free pericarp.
