Closely branched spreading shrub 1-1·5 m. tall. Branchlets slender, glab., length of internodes 3-6 × diam. Lvs erecto-patent, c. 2.5-3 cm. × 5 mm., linear-lanceolate, subcoriac., rather pale green, more glossy on upper surface; lf-bud without sinus; lamina only slightly narrowed to base, subacute, glab., entire, margins very smooth as in H. subalpina. Infls lateral, simple, up to 5-6 × 1·5 cm. in fr., less in fl., peduncle short. Bracts narrow, ciliolate, = or < pedicels. Calyx-lobes c. 1·5 mm. long, subacute, with narrow pale border. Corolla white, tube < calyx, lobes c. 2 mm. long. Capsule erect, c. 4 × 2.5 mm.
DIST.: S. Recorded only from type locality "subalpine scrub at the head of the Estuary Burn, Lake Wanaka, altitude 1000-1500 m."
"This is the common Hebe component of the subalpine scrub association in all upper basins in this habitat. It is closely allied to H. subalpina, which has larger and wider leaves."
