Athyriaceae

ATHYRIACEAE

Sori dorsal, oblong to linear, ± curved and inflated, with indusium of similar shape; or sori globose with basal indusium. Sporangia globose, with slender stalks; spores bilateral, with perispore. Rhizome dictyostelic, short, oblique, forming a stock or shortly creeping. Paleae with marginal teeth; hairs if present multicellular. Stipes with 2 vascular strands uniting above. Fronds decompound to simple; veins free, or rarely anastomosing, without included veinlets. A few genera of rather uncertain delimitation.
