Panicum lindheimeri

ξP. lindheimeri Nash

ξP. lindheimeri Nash ξPerennial; basal leaves differing from culm leaves and forming a winter rosette; culms produced in spring simple, terminating in a dense panicle, culms produced in autumn much branched above with smaller axillary panicles often almost hidden by leaf-sheaths. Leaves ± glabrous. Ligules 3-5 mm. Culm nodes glabrous. Panicle 4-9 cm. Spikelets 1.5 mm, orbicular, pubescent. A North American sp. once grown on at Kaitaia by H. B. Matthews from seed from a plant growing at Kerikeri (specimens were made 11.12.1913, AK 99300, 93301, 93302, with duplicate CHR 3448 labelled H. B. Wilson as collector presumably in error for H. B. Matthews).
