ξE. diffusa Buckley ξThe single specimen consists of 6 separate culms. Collar hairs numerous, to 3 mm. Leaf-blade 4-6 cm × 2-3 mm; margins finely scabrid. Panicle 9-15 mm; branches widely spreading, hairs in lower branch-axils few (c. 2 mm). Spikelets 4-6 × c. 1.5 mm, 5-9-flowered, linear, dull olive-green, purple-tinged. Lemma 1.5-2 mm. Stamens 3; anthers 0.2 mm. Caryopsis c. 0.8 mm, elliptic-oblong. A North American species once collected from Matapihi, Bay of Plenty, single clump along railway line M. Hodgkins Apr 1961 (CHR 327210).
