Pertusaria circumcincta

Pertusaria krempelhuberi is based on P. subverrucosa Kremp,  Verhandl. zool.-bot. Ges. Wien 26 : 452 (1876) non Nyl. Type: New Zealand. Sine loco [probably Wellington], Charles Knight. M – not seen.

Description : Flora (1985: 372).

Chemistry : TLC, two unidentified compounds.

N: Wellington. S: Westland (Greymouth).

Endemic

Pertusaria circumcincta is a corticolous species (not saxicolous as indicated in Galloway (1985a: 372)), characterised by disc-like apothecia with margins often completely enclosing disc and with pale to dark red-brown discs that are thinly white-pruinose. It has 1-spored asci, the ascospores 100–160(–230) × 40–65(–74) μm, the wall 3–4 μm thick.
