Pertusaria subisidiosa

P. subisidiosa A.W.Archer, Mycotaxon 41: 242 (1991).

Description : Thallus pale cream-white, thin, continuous, surface dull and smooth, isidiate, without soredia. Isidia simple, concolorous with thallus, profuse, 0.1–0. 3 mm tall, 0.05–0.1 mm diam. Apothecia verruciform, isidiate, concolorous with thallus, inconspicuous, scattered, flattened-hemispherical, not constricted at base, 0.5–0.7 mm diam.; ostioles conspicuous, black, 0.1–0.2 mm diam., 1 per verruca. Ascospores 4 per ascus, uniseriate, ellipsoidal, rough, 80–95 × 30–35 μm.

Chemistry : K−, C−, KC−, Pd−; containing 2,5-dichlorolichexanthone (major), 2,4,5-trichlorolichexanthone (major), 2,4-dichlorolichexanthone (tr.), 2-chlorolichexanthone (minor), sticto acid (major), constictic acid (tr.), cryptostictic acid (tr.) and menegazziaic acid (tr.) (Archer 1997: 143).

N: Northland (Three Kings Is, Castaway Valley). On Kunzea ericoides. Known also from Queensland and New South Wales (Archer & Elix 1994a; Archer 1997, 2004a; McCarthy 2003c, 2006).

Pertusaria subisidiosa is characterised by: the corticolous habit; the isidiate thallus and verrucae; 4-spored asci with rough ascospores; and the chemistry.
