Pertusaria erumpescens

Description : Flora (1985: 374).

Chemistry : K+ yellow→red, C−, KC+ red, Pd+ orange; containing norstictic and connorstictic acids.

N: Wellington. Known only from the type collection

Endemic

Illustrations : Knight (1876: pl. X, fig. 23; 1877: pl. XXXVII, fig. 23 – as Bagliettoa ocellata).

Pertusaria erumpescens is characterised by: the saxicolous habit; the brownish-grey rather indeterminate thallus; fawn or brownish, shining fertile verrucae with minute, black ostioles; 8-spored asci; uniseriate to biseriate ascospores, 34–42.5 × 12–17 μm; and the presence of norstictic acid in the medulla.
