Anthyllis vulneraria
ζ*Anthyllis vulneraria L. ζ*, kidney vetch, was naturalised in Nelson, Canterbury, and Otago last century, but has not been collected recently. A hairy annual to perennial herb. Lvs imparipinnate or reduced to a single lf and this 12-50 mm long; terminal leaflet usually > lateral leaflets. Infl. capitate, axillary or terminal, many-flowered; bracts pinnatisect. Calyx densely hairy, gibbous at base at flowering, constricted at apex; calyx teeth short, unequal, the 2 upper larger; corolla yellow, red, purple, orange or white. Pod ± straight, indehiscent, ± enclosed by calyx, 1-seeded. (Europe, Asia Minor, Caucasia to Abyssinia, N. Africa, 1875).
