Eucalyptus cypellocarpa
ζ*E. cypellocarpa L. Johnson ζ*, mountain grey gum, has been recently collected wild on the banks of the Puarenga Stream, Whakarewarewa, Rotorua, where it was regenerating from cultivated trees in the neighbourhood. This sp. has the general aspect of E. tereticornis but the very different frs at once distinguish them, and unlike E. tereticornis, E. cypellocarpa has buds with the opercula < hypanthium. E. cypellocarpa in N.Z. either has a smooth trunk with a basal stocking of persistent bark like E. tereticornis or has thin persistent bark to the branches. (N.S.W., Victoria, 1988).
