Small erect or spreading succulent herb up to 15 cm. tall; stems us. reddish, succulent, ± stiff; branches with internodes up to 1 cm., us. provided with short branchlets densely clad in lvs. Lvs ± 3 mm. long, fleshy, ovate to narrow-oblong, subacute to acute. Fls very minute, us. clustered in axils of lvs; peduncles very short at anthesis, us. elongate in fr. Calyx with deeply cut ovate-lanceolate acute to acuminate lobes; petals < calyx, narrow-ovate to linear, acute. Scales 0. Carpels narrow ellipsoid; styles short, slender. Seeds 2-(1)-(0).

DIST.: Three Kings, N., S. Lowland to montane rock-clefts, dry grassland and open ground throughout.

FL.- FT. 9-1. Generally an annual, but occ. biennial. Also in Australia and Tasmania.
