Ovules us. many (few in Tillaea); frs of follicles with minute seeds; embryo straight, endosperm us. fleshy. Herbs or subshrubs, mostly succulent, with exstipulate opp. or alt. lvs. Subcosmopolitan with over 30 genera and c. 1300 spp.
