Hainardieae

HAINARDIEAE

Ligule membranous. Leaf-blade linear to linear-lanceolate. Inflorescence a cylindrical spike. Spikelets 1-(6)-flowered, florets all ⚥, sessile, alternate, sunk in cavities of rachis. Glumes 2, or 1, > lemma, coriaceous, 3-9-nerved, appressed to and covering the cavity of the rachis except at maturity. Lemma usually hyaline and awnless. Palea 2-keeled. Lodicules 2, lanceolate, entire. Stamens 3. Ovary glabrous; styles 2. Caryopsis narrowly oblong; hilum linear to elliptic.
