Coprosma obconica Kirk
type: W, D. Petrie, 1/2/1910. There are many specimens in BD collected by F. G. Gibbs, but none show good flowering or fruiting material.
Much subdivaricately branched shrub up to 2 m. tall; bark greyish; branchlets ± pubescent. Lvs mostly fascicled on short branchlets, on slender pubescent petioles c. 1 mm. long. Stipules small, acute to sub-acute, pubescent. Lamina coriac., obovate-oblong to oblong, obtuse, mucronulate, ± 5-7 × 1·5-2 mm. Veins us. obscure, sts visible below. ♂ solitary or 2-3 together on short branchlets; calyx 0; corolla funnelform, tube < ovate, acute lobes. ♀ solitary, terminal on short branchlets; calyx-teeth acute, ciliolate; corolla tubular, lobes acute. Drupe yellowish white, obconic, 3·5-4 mm. diam.
Dist.: S. Wairoa Gorge, Nelson, on river-terraces. Type lost. Neo
