Fr. us. splitting into 3 dehiscent cocci, seed with cop. endosperm. Herbs, shrubs, or trees, often with milky sap; lvs alt., opp., or whorled, us. stipulate. Subcosmopolitan family with some 285 genera and over 730 spp.
