Ovary 1-(3-5)-celled; style 1; stigmas (2)-3-(5); ovules pend. Fr. us. a drupe; seeds us. with endosperm. Trees or shrubs with us. alt., simple, exstipulate lvs. Widespread in tropics and subtropics, of some 40 genera and 225 spp.
