Description : Flora (1985: 305–306 – as Neofuscelia minuta).
Chemistry : Cortex K−, HNO3± dark blue-green; medulla K−, C+ rose, KC+ rose, Pd−, UV−; containing gyrophoric acid.
N: South Auckland (Hunua Ra., Mt Tarawera). On rocks.

Xanthoparmelia minutella is distinguished by: the saxicolous habit; its small size; the characteristic central lobules that should not be confused with isidia; and the chemistry of gyrophoric acid as major medullary compound.
